The primary objective of the textbook is not solely to provide practical knowledge of the Spanish language but also to expand the student’s horizons offering them linguistic and linguacultural material. The textbook consists of two parts. The first one contains five thematic units covering the most acute problems of the current international scene: globalization, tourism, global economic crises, migration, electoral process, armed conflicts, ecology, Arctic exploration. A deep understanding of these issues is closely connected to a comprehensive study of important regions around the globe, such as the countries of the European Union, Latin America, Middle East and Asia, Africa, the Unites States of America.

The second part comprises five thematic units dealing with Russian history, culture, science, art and national identity. Each unit contains a set of lexical, grammatical and speech exercises that ensure the successful learning of the vocabulary and grammar of the lesson and their consolidation. In addition, speech markers and verbs that have two participle forms can be found in the final annex of the textbook.

The textbook is designed for English-speaking learners of the Spanish Language at an Upper-Inter-mediate / Advanced level (B2-C1).
